As soldiers of Jesus Christ, we must be on guard at all times and be prepared to go into battle. Whether you know it or not, we are in a war. This war is the Salvation War--The war of saving souls, growing saints and serving suffering humanity--all in the midst of the devil's schemes.
The Apostle Paul says, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm." Ephes. 6: 10-13
"We are not sent to minister to a congregation and be content if we keep things going. We are sent to make war...and to stop short of nothing but the subjugation of the world to the sway of the Lord Jesus." - William Booth in an address to the War Congress of 1878
"There is no improving the future without disturbing the present." - Catherine Booth
Indeed, we must not be content with the status quo, but stand strong, march forward and claim the victory that our Lord Jesus Christ has already won for us on Calvary!
"Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
1 Corinthians 15:56 (The Apostle Paul)
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1: 6 & 7
