My Story in a Coconut Shell
Welcome to truthcompass.com! My name is Celestine Ruwethin. My family moved to Hilo Hawaii in June 2011. My wife - Shoshannah and I are serving in the Salvation Army as officers. In a nutshell, officers' duties often involves wearing four hats: A pastor, administrator, program director and community laison.
We are humble and grateful toward God and The Salvation Army for giving us this opportunity to serve the people of Hilo Hawaii!
(Update: We are moving to Salem Oregon - Summer 2018)
My Journey with Jesus
Ever since I was young, I've always thought about God. Perhaps, it's because I grew up in a Roman Catholic family and attended a Catholic school. I knew that God existed, because of all the wonderful things I see in His beautiful creation. I knew that He was out there, but I didn't have a personal relationship with Him.
My interactions with family members, relatives, and youth group teachers were the building blocks that formed my faith and enabled me to say "yes" to Jesus. It was not until high school that I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. From that point on, I found myself craving to know God in a personal way, especially wanting to read more of His Word - the Holy Bible, and attending church services. When I prayed, I felt that He hears me and answers me.
I have hope today that when I pass on from this life to the next, that I will be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! My faith in the Lord keeps on growing. I think that it'll continue to grow until I take my last breath. Praise God the Father for loving us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to pay for our sins on that cross! As the old hymn goes, " Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow." Praise God the Holy Spirit for empowering us to live a life pleasing to the Lord!
I know in my heart that God loves me and wants the best for me. I also know that He loves you too. He wants to connect and walk with you in your life journey.
Have you decided to saying "yes" to Jesus? I hope so:-) God bless you on your journey!
